Glamovie.com – Variety reports that the former WWE wrestler will play King Kamehameha in a historical film called The King. The film director is Robert Zemeckis.
Not from the world of Dragon Ball, Kamehameha was the first king of the Kingdom of Hawaii. He was also the first of the Kamehameha royal family dynasty.
Kamehameha united the Hawaiian islands after a series of battles that took place in 1790. He also took steps to ensure that Hawaii would remain united even after his death.
Johnson has been eyeing to adapt this film, and finally decided to continue after the shooting process in Hawaii for the film Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.
Johnson will produce the film with Seven Buck Productions, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia.
Zemeckis will also be involved in production with FlynnPcitureCo. and Beau Flynn.
Wendy Jacobson will be an executive producer, and the film will start shooting in 2020.
This King Kamehameha film seems to be a serious historical film. It would be good if Dwayne Johnson wanted to prove he could act in a film like that.
Previously, Dave Bautista had already proved himself to be able to appear seriously on films like Blade Runner 2049.
Dwayne Johnson is an actor who has always been popular thanks to action films like Jumanji and Fast and Furious.
The history section of King Kamehameha called at Variety focused on Kamehameha’s struggle when uniting the Hawaiian islands. (Glamovie).
